COCAP BIWEEKLY: INCIDENTS SURROUNDING COVID-19 MARCH 1 - 15, 2021

From March 1 - 15, 2021 COCAP’s Nepal Peace Monitoring Project (PMP) recorded two incidents of protest related to COVID-19. The incidents involved employees being deprived of their salaries and All Nepal National Free Students Union padlocking school. Until March 15, 2021, the total number of positive cases reached 2,75,310 with 3014 deaths.

From March 1 - 15, 2021, 40 cases of gender-based violence (GBV) were recorded in which 22 victims of sexual assault were below the age of 26. Similarly, four cases of domestic violence were recorded.

This bi-weekly report is aimed to inform our readers of the added crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected everyone’s livelihood and made some groups of people even more vulnerable. It also aims to make the readers aware of the issues surrounding the violence against women and girls in Nepali societies.
