Kathmandu/March 15

National Coalition for Children as Zones of Peace and Child Protection (CZOPP) and CONSORTIUM have drawn the attention of the Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairperson Subash Nembang on the missing provisions on child rights in the concept papers and proposed draft of a new constitution.

The group met with CA Chairperson Nembang and handed over a memorandum on March 15 as part of the CA advocacy campaign to ensure children’s rights in the new constitution.

The memorandum calls for provision of child rights commissioner, issue related with citizenship, children’s right to participation and the provisions of banning use/misuse of children for political purpose.

Thanking the delegates for drawing his attention on the child rights issues, Nembang said that there were no disputes among political leaders/parties for making constitution a child friendly one. He expressed his commitments to draw the attention of concerned CA committees including constitutional committee and dispute resolution sub-committee on the issues raised by the delegates.
