A loosely formed pressure group "Nepali without citizenship" organized a demonstration at Birgunj on the afternoon of December 8,  demanding the meaningful conclusion as well as ratification of the Citizenship Act, which is pending at the Federal parliament. The participants of the rally mentioned that the children born from parents with naturalized citizenship and citizenship by birth are deprived of the right to citizenship. They pointed towards lakhs of people who are not able to get citizenship despite their parents possessing Nepali citizenship.

They demanded effective implementation of sub-article 3 and 5 of Article 11. The rally started from Ghantaghar in Birgunj and converged into a corner assembly at the same place after traversing the city.
