More than a dozen entrepreneurs were injured in a police interruption whilst staging a peaceful demonstration on August 22, in Michaurya. Dozens of businessmen including Bharat Mahaseth, secretary of the Mirchaiya Industry and Commerce Association, were injured when the police used force in a peaceful protest by local businessmen who were affected by smoke, dust and mud on the Mirchaiya road section under the East-West Highway. The demonstrators alleged that the police physically assaulted the secretary Bharat Mahaseth and JM Hotel worker Ajay Paswan, which caused fractures in different parts of their heads and bodies. The local residents were protesting that despite repeated negotiations and agreements with the road construction company and stakeholders, the implementation of those agreements was ignored. On the other hand, the police said that they had to use some force because some youth pelted stones at the police after blocking the East-West highway.
