Province 1, Udayapur, Katari
Police have arrested 90-year-old Bir Bahadur Tamang and 80-year-old Santamaya Tamang who had been at large after killing their daughter-in-law on June 15 2007, in collusion with their son for failing to give birth to a baby boy. Police arrested the couple from their home on February 14, 2015.
The district court had issued a verdict to sentence the Tamang couple and 36-year-old Krishna Bahadur Lopchan to prison after finding them guilty in the murder of 34-year-old Setimaya Tamang of Dhaibung VDC-3. While Krishna Bahadur is now free after serving his jail sentence the Tamang couple had absconded immediately after the court issued it the verdict. Police arrested them from their home while they were on the lookout for criminals at large.
