Traffickers sentenced to twenty years in prison

 Nuwakot District Court in Nepal has sentenced three persons accused of human trafficking to a 20-year prison term after finding them guilty of trafficking four women to India. A single bench of justice Shivakoti sentenced 24-year-old Maila Tamang alias Saaila of Ghyangphedi-2, 30-year-old Kancha Lama alias Chulbule of the same place and Rajesh Lama alias Dipak of Ghyangphedi-5 currently residing in Boudha in Kathmandu, to 20 years in prison and ordered all three accused to pay the penalty of Rs 200,000 each after finding them guilty of trafficking four girls to India. The court has also ordered the victim's to be paid a compensation of Rs 100,000 each. The verdict was issued in line with the Human Trafficking and Transportation (Control) Act 2064 BS and Regulation 2065 BS, according to the court sources. Police arrested the three based on a complaint lodged by Gyan Bahadur Tamang of Rautbesi VDC-8 in Nuwakot.
