Okhaldhunga/November 7 Santa Bahadur Rai, 29, of Thakle VDC has beaten and evicted his wife from home. Bala Kumari Rai said that she and her one-year-old daughter were evicted by her husband Janta. His second wife had also assaulted her. "I am staying at my maternal home after they threatened to kill me if I returned home," the victim who arrived at the district headquarters seeking legal remedy said. She said that Santa and his second wife Yasuna Rai of Manebhanjyang started inflicting torture on her after his second marriage on March 1, 2011. She has been preparing to file a case of polygamy and property partition. Meanwhile, Santa has refuted Bala Kumari's claim. He is also a teacher of the local Manebhanjyang boarding school.
