The Nepal Students Union, the student wing of the main opposition Nepali Congress, here on Thursday demonstrated against the government for its failure to curb the inflation and activities of the educational mafia.
Students in the demonstration that started from Pradarshani Marga in the Capital marched through Putalisadak, Bagbazaar, and ended in a corner meeting upon reaching Ratna Park.
The cadres of the Union chanted slogans, displaying placards reading- ‘Ukhan Tukka le Chulo Balena’ (Sarcasm alone didn’t make our stove run) ‘Janata laai Baachna Garo bho’ (Living is difficult for public’ and the like.
Addressing the corner meeting, NSU leaders slammed the incumbent government for not being able to curb the black marketeering, inflation, and activities of educational mafias.
They warned of a nation-wide demonstration if their demands went unheeded.
According to NSU spokesperson UP Lamichhame, the Union would stage a protest in front of the Prime Minister’s official residence at Baluwatar on May 23 at 8:00 in the morning.
To add gravity to their protests, the Union cadres, as well as the leaders, would demonstrate with empty cooking gas cylinders, water jars, and utensils added Lamichhane.
