Tanker driver killed in Kathmandu

A man was beaten to death in Balkhu of Kathmandu by a gang of eight to nine persons, on Saturday night. Gagan Aryal (37) from Chobhar, Kirtipur-14 on the southern outskirts of Kathmandu, succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajganj of the Capital last night. Earlier, the driver of a tanker (Na 1 Kha 9276) was attacked by a gang of eight to nine persons including Surya Tamang, a bus driver in Balkhu yesterday while both of them were driving their own vehicles. Hira Karki (35) of Taudaha, Kirtipur-15, who was accompanying Aryal, also sustained injuries in the attack and is undergoing treatment at the Bir Hospital. He is out of danger. Meanwhile, police arrested eight including Saroj Kunwar aka Jyankaji (20), and Subhash Kunwar (17) in connection to the case. Impounding both of the vehicles, police are looking into the case.
