Shot fired in the election of a school management committee in Rautahat

Two persons were injured during a shootout at a clash over the vote counting of the election of the school management committee of Jaya Kishan Higher Secondary School in Dharahari on Wednesday. The injured have been identified as Tait Pandit, 55, of Dharahari-5 and Shambhu Shah, 38, of Dharahari-4. They are undergoing treatment at National Medical College in Birgunj. An election was held on Wednesday to select the new school management committee of Jaya Kishan Higher Secondary School. A dispute between the sides participating in the election occurred after it was found during the vote counting that there were 23 more votes than the total cast. Of the three candidates for the position of chairman of the school management committee, Hridayanarayan Shah - a supporter of CPN-UML demanded the election result be annulled. A clash occurred between the sides participating in the election at around 11:00 pm over the same issue. A shot was fired during the same incident. But it is not known who fired the shot. SP Ganesh Regmi informed us that they are investigating the incident. CDO Narahari Baral said that they were trying to bring to both the sides to talk.
