(updated)--   A young girl was shot dead by an unidentified person in Doti on Friday. The deceased was identified as a 20-year-old Mina Saud of Pachnali VDC-6 in the district. According to a local, the incident took place when Saud was cooking noodles in her kitchen. Saud, who was studying at Dhangadhi, came home one week ago during vacation. Locals rushed towards the house soon after hearing the sound of gunfire and found her collapsed in the kitchen. She was injured after receiving a bullet to her right hand but died on the way to the Sujaung Hospital, Rajpur. Her body was kept at the Doti District Hospital for post mortem. According to the Doti District Police investigation into the case is underway.

(update)--Doti has arrested 37-year-old Lal Bahadhur Chand for the alleged murder of Mina Saud. Sources said that after an investigation, police arrested Chand. However, officials at the police office declined to confirm the arrest. Mina was shot dead on June 10 while she was cooking noodles in her kitchen. Police had failed to arrest the murderer immediately. But after an investigation, police arrested Chand who is a teacher at Harihar Higher Secondary School, Talkot with a pistol. But police are yet to confirm his arrest. “We are at the last stage of the investigation. We have arrested a guy, however, we are yet to confirm his involvement in the murder. The last verification will be done tomorrow. Everything will be confirmed by Thursday morning,” said Superintendent of Police (SP) Dilliraj Bista of District Police Office, Doti. Arrested Chand used to live in the house of the deceased. The reason behind the murder is still unknown.
