Govinda KC, FNJ district vice-chairperson and district correspondent of Himalaya Times has been threatened by UCPN-M district deputy secretary and Bheri Karnali Rajya Samiti member Krishna Prasad Jaisi on December 15.
"Jaisi threatened to kill me over publication of a news item while I had been heading to office of Teshro Aankha Saptahik at Ganesh Chowk in Narayan Municipality," said KC, adding, "I went to the District Administration Office to protect myself after Jaisi tried to attack me after issuing the death threat."
KC filed an application at DAO seeking security of his life and police arrested Jaisi from Narayan Municipality-6 today.
A news item stating that a woman was forced to stay at her maternal home for three years was published on December 10 issue of Himalaya Times and name of Jaisi was also mentioned in the news. After Jaisi found his name in the news, he threated KC.
"We will hold a meeting in the presence of KC and Jaisi to solve the problem," said CDO Bashu Dev Dahal.
Meanwhile, FNJ district chairperson Pushkar Thapa has condemned the act of issuing threat and attempt of attack on journalist KC today.
