Police had to fire a shot to arrest a fugitive at Babarmahal Thursday afternoon. Jaswant Rai, who has been accused of over a dozen robberies and was on the run, had tried to run away after he saw the police team from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division. According to the police, Rai was warned against running away before he was shot. The bullet hit his knee. The police shot at Rai after he tried to hit the policemen with an iron rod, said SSP Sarbendra Khanal. Injured Rai has been taken to Bir Hospital for treatment, according to Khanal.
