Complaint lodged in human rights commission for torture in Banke

A complaint was lodged at the National Human Rights Commission regional office of Nepalgunj on June 23 accusing police administration of torturing 21-year-old Yuv Raj Thapa Magar of Nepalgunj sub-metropolis-13 while he was in custody. The victim complained that he was arrested by a group of police from his house on June 21 asking him for interrogation. He was then beaten after taking him to the police station. He accused police of severely beating him with a pipe fist and boot. He lodged a complaint in the commission accusing police of beating him for half an hour. He added that his mental and physical state was affected due to the torture. He was arrested by the police during an investigation over the murder of the 18-year-old Raj Babu Pathak of Nepalgunj sub-metropolis-21 on June 20. The incident of torture was taken seriously by the commission said regional director Murari Kharel of NHRC.
