2016-06-26

Karnali, Salyan, Sharada

In the wake of a threat from the Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist, the local administration has beefed up security in Khalanga, the district headquarters. A security source said they had received threats of a Maoist attack on the chiefs of government offices. DSP Shyam Bahadur Khatri said plainclothes personnel had been deployed to guard officials. “Following rumours of an attack by the Maoists, we have strengthened security at the offices,” he added.

The party recently threatened to take action against the office chiefs in the district. The party’s district secretary Dilliraj Sharma said they had decided to punish corrupt officials as the local administration had been protecting them. “We planned to take action against corrupt officials nationwide on Friday. But we postponed it as the plan was leaked. Our party will take action at any cost,” said Sharma.
