The District Court of Ramechhap has ordered to penalise Rs 5,000 to Krishna Maya Shrestha of Bhirpani VDC-6 on the charge of marrying her under-aged daughter. The court has ordered to give the penalise amount to the girl. A single bench of district court judge Kiran Prasad Siwakoti has given a verdict on July 14. However, the bridegroom Kailash Shrestha was given a clean chit by the court. The accused had married her 16-years-old daughter with Kailash Shrestha,20 on December 14, 2015. CIWIN Child helpline of the district had registered a complaint at District Court on March 3, 2015, against the marriage. There was no cancellation of marriage by the court as the applicant did not demand it. This was the first case on child marriage that was decided by Ramechhap district court.
