Expelled Women Return Homes

Two women, who had been forced to leave their villages, have returned homes after the perpetrators expressed their commitment not to repeat their mistakes in future.

Santoshi Bista, 30 of Yamkha3, who had been expelled from the village by five villagers alleging that she had an illicit relation with third person on October 20, has returned home on December 14.

 

Santoshi was forced to shelter in the house of her relatives after Parshuram Bista, 40, Raj Kumar Bista, 21, Manoj Bista, 18, Rajan Bista, 35 and Govinda Bista had expelled her. She had applied at District Police Office demoing to deliver her justice and police helped her to return home after police held a discussion with all stakeholders including those who had expelled her on December 12. Santoshi returned home after those expelling her expressed their commitment not to repeat such incident in future, police said.

 

Similarly, Bishnu Maya Khatri, 27 of Mamrang3 who had been staying in her relative's house following beating of husband Ram Bahadur Khatri, 29 since December 4 has returned home on December 15.

 

Bishnu Maya said that she was forced to leave house after husband beat her in the influence of alcohol frequently.

 

As husband Ram Bahadur expressed his commitment not to beat his wife, Bishnu Maya returned home on December 15, said District Police Office.
