Police arrested 45-year-old Prem Kumari Tharu and 20-year-old Nirmala Tharu on August 17 on the charges of alleging 40-year-old Bel Kumari Tharu of Dhadhawar VDC-9, Dafaiyak and her daughter Pabitra Kumari Chaudhary,18 of being a witch. The victims lodged a complaint at the Area Police Office of Rampur on August 17 against the accused demanding for justice and action against them. The victim said that she was alleged of being a witch on a previous occasion by the locals. Six years ago Prem Kumari was released in an agreement after paying Rs 500 penalty when she accused her of being a witch. The victim said that they were compelled to seek legal assistance after they could not get social justice. Inspector Karna Bahadur Bam said that the case is registered and the accused were arrested for investigation.
