Police arrested 21-year-old Mandire Sarki of Raku VDC-2 on August 22 on the charges of marrying a 13-year-old girl. The victim’s family lodged a complaint at the District Police Office on August 21 accusing Sarki of marring a girl on May 8. The victim said that she was able to flee and come to the district headquarter and lodged a complaint on child marriage, polygamy, and rape. DSP Kisan Singh Badal said that the accused was arrested by the police for further investigation based on a complaint lodged by the victim. DSP Badal said that the victim is undergoing a health check-up as a complaint states that she had been raped.
