Two held for extortion in Kathmandu

Police arrested two people on charges of blackmailing the owner of a mineral water company. According to police, Dipendra Poudel and Sunil Devkota of Manamaiju, Kathmandu contaminated jar water and later tried to extort Rs 500,000 from Hom Bahadur Bogati, the proprietor, saying that they would make the pictures of “dirty jar water” public. “They broke the seal and contaminated the water and then put the seal back in place,” said SP Sahakul Thapa, spokesperson for Metropolitan Police Crime Division. Police arrested the duo while they were receiving Rs 50,000 as the first installment from Bogati. The arrestees will be charged with fraud.
