Locals of Rautahat VDC's clash, dozen injured

Dozens of people were injured and one person was critically injured after clash erupted between the locals of Pipara Dostiya and Pokhariya VDC's over the irrigation water of the Bagmati irrigation Project in Rautahat today. The dispute ran high after locals pf Pipariya Dostita VDC tried to destroy the canal of the project at around 9:00am today. Sunil Yadav, Devananda Yadav, Ram Bilas Yadav and Surendra Thakur of Dostiya VDC and Rohit Yadav, Binaya Yadav, Bisnu Thakur of Pokhariya VDC were injured in the clash. District Police Office, Rautahat said that a critically injured Sunil Yadav was sent to a Kathmandu based health facility for further treatment after primary treatment in a Garuda-based health facility today. Meanwhile, DSP Nabin Krishna Bhandari of DPO said that other injured people are receiving treatment in different health facilities of Katahariya and Garuda. DSP Bhandari said that some members of the police team led by SI Umashankar Gupta, who reached the incident site, had also received minor injuries as hundreds of locals were throwing stones. Police said that the two groups of people were fighting over the water to be taken from the canal to irrigate paddy from the morning.
