Locals of Bhandaradhik in Lekhnth Municipality-1 of Kaski have gheraoed the district police office on December 20 for refusing to file a case.

Saying that the police refused to file a case demanding action against those involved in the killing of Kritika Gaire of Rising Panipokhari9, her maternal family accused the police of trying to save the accused. Father of Kritika, Tankanath Bhandari has accused her husband Narayan Gaire, 28, his father Rishiram Gaire, 55, and sister Shova Gaire, 35, of killing his daughter on December 17.

An APF staff, Narayan married Shova last year. Tankanath said that Narayan and his family had been inflicting mental torture on her after the marriage.

According to the report of the post mortem of the deceased held at the Damauli hospital, it was found that she had hanged herself to death. Family of the deceased insisted that they would not take her body until a complaint was filed against Narayan family.

DSP Gautam Ra Kattel of the district police office said that they could not file the case as the post-mortem report stated that the deceased had committed suicide.
