Chand Maoist cadres held with huge cache of ammunition

Police on Tuesday arrested four activists of the Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist in possession of a huge cache of ammunition in Jajarkot. The four men-- Nain Bahadur Bista, Dirgha Nepali, Milan Shahi and Dharmaraj Devkota-- were travelling in a jeep with bearing number plate Ba 2 Jha 1005 with 205 bullets used in INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) rifle and nine loaded magazines. Bista, Devkota and Nepali are former Maoist combatants while Shahi is a student leader of CPN Maoist. They were caught during security inspection at Chheda Bazaar along the Chhinchu-Jajarkot road, said Police Inspector Hikmat Bohara.

The jeep driver, Lal Bahadur Khadka was also briefly held for questioning. According to Khadka's account to police, the four Maoist men had got on the jeep at Thalaha Bazaar while he was driving back to the district headquarters after dropping off some staff from the District Education Office (DEO). Police had questioned the concerned DEO staff to verify Khadka's statement.
