Interaction on Achievement, Working Policy on UPR Held

One day regional program on achievements and working policy on Universal Periodic Review (UPR) has been held in Dhangadhi on December 22.

 

In the program organized under the coordination of INSEC Far Western Regional Office, discussion was held on the implementation of achievements and working policies Nepal had presented during the UPR in UN Human Rights Council on January 25, 2011.

 

Participants of the program said that the stakeholders should exert moral pressure on the government to ensure the rights of indigenous people, Madhesis and people of religious minorities among others as Nepal had expressed commitment to implement them during the UPR. All the participants stressed the need for effective implementation of all international covenants and conventions Nepal has ratified so far.

 

The program was facilitated by NNC UPR representative and INSEC central office official Samjha Shrestha, DRCFC representative Hom Yamphu and Baburam Gautam on the behalf of Women Coordination Network.

 

The program chaired by INSEC regional coordinator Khadak Raj Joshi was conducted by INSEC Kailali coordinator Siddha Raj Ojha.
