उदयपुर । चैत २९ गते जिल्ला प्रहरी कार्यालय उदयपुरको हिरासतमा रहेका थुनुवा त्रियुगा नपा-१ बोक्सेका ३३ वर्षीय प्रमोद बस्नेतको प्रहरी हिरासतमा मृत्यु भएको परिवारका सदस्य कृष्ण बस्नेतले बताए । प्रहरीले उनलाई कुनै प्रकारको यातना नदिएको दाबी गरेको छ । उनलाई २८ गते राती १० बजे मादकपदार्थ सेवन गरी जिल्ला प्रशासन कार्यालयको गेटमा पुगेको भन्दै जिल्ला प्रहरी कार्यालयको गस्तीटोलीले गिरफ्तार गरी जिल्ला अस्पताल गाईघाटमा स्वास्थ्य परिक्षण गराई हिरासतमा राखेको थियो । प्रहरीका अनुसार हिरासतमा सुतेको अबस्थाबाट बिहान नउठेपछि खोजी गर्दा अचेत अबस्थामा रहेका बस्नेतलाई उपचारका लागि तत्काल जिल्ला अस्पताल पुर्‍याइएकोमा अस्पतालले मृत घोषित गरेको हो । मृतकको लास आफन्तले बुझ्न मानेका छैनन् । मृतक परिवारले क्षतिपूर्ती र उच्चस्तरीय जाँचबुझको माग गर्दै लास बुझ्न नमानेपछि साँझसम्म भएको स्थानीय प्रशासन, प्रहरी, पीडित परिवार, नागरिक समाज, मानवअधिकारकर्मी सहमति हुन सकेन । कुशलबाबु बस्नेत Udaypur/April 11

Pramod Basnet, 33, of Bokse in TriyugaN.P.1 has died in detention in police custody on April 10. Police have denied torturing him.

 

He was held by the police after arriving at the gate of District Administration Office in inebriated condition. He was kept in police custody after medical check up at District Hospital, Gaighat.

 

Police say that when they tried to wake him up in the morning of April 11, he was found unconscious and was taken to District Hospital.

 

The relatives have refused to accept the body and have demanded compensation and a high-level investigation committee.

 

An attempt to mediate between the administration and the relatives was not successful.
