Ten people who feigned as officials of Nepal Police’s Central Investigation Bureau and took hostage a Bara resident from Birgunj-18 has been arrested in Parsa district. The hostage also was taken in custody after it was revealed that he, along with the mastermind behind his melodramatic abduction, was involved in a con business that apparently dealt with mythical nagamani (cobra pearl). The District Police Office, Parsa, paraded the CIB impostors here in Birgunj on Tuesday. The suspects — identified as Prem Lal Shrestha of Kathmandu; Bijaya Bahadur Bal, Suvesh Ghalan, Nasi Akhtar, Raju Lama and Yogendra Prasad Bhatta of Sarlahi; Sagar of Sindhupalchok and currently residing in Sarlahi; Amit Bomjan of Makawanpur, and Mohan Bahadur Kingring of Kavre — had kidnapped Mohammad Abdullah of Bara district on Saturday, January 28. Preliminary investigation revealed that Prem Lal Shrestha and Mohammad Abdullah had defrauded several people on the pretext of selling prized nagamani, which is much sought after for its alleged mythical power to bring good luck to its possessor. Shrestha resorted to using police impostors to swindle his ex-partner of fortune, apparently after their relationship soured. Police impounded a vehicle (Ba 16 Cha 8780), identical to Nepal Police van, used in the crime. Police said the suspects would be charged under the public offence. सर्पको नामणी बेच्ने गिरोहमा संलग्न एक जनालाई अपहरण गरेको आरोपमा पर्सा प्रहरीले आठ युवकलाई पक्राउ गरेको छ । आफूहरुलाई नेपाल प्रहरीको अनुसन्धान ब्युरो सिआइबी भन्दै नामणी बेच्न गिरोहका एक जनालाई अपहरण गरेको आरोपमा दस जनालाई पर्सा प्रहरीले पक्राउ गरेको हो । पक्राउ पर्नेहरुमा सर्लाहीका विजय बल, सुवेष घलान, सागर श्रेष्ठ, मोहन मगर, योगेन्द्र भट्ट, नशीम अख्तर र राजु लामा तथा मकवानपुरका अमृत बम्जन रहेका छन् । प्रहरीले सर्पको नागमणी बेच्ने गिरोहका बाराका अब्दुल अहमद र काठमाण्डौका प्रेम श्रेष्ठलाई पनि पक्राउ गरेको छ । पक्राउ परेका सबै १० जनालाई जिल्ला प्रहरी कार्यालय पर्साको हिरासतमा राखेर अनुसन्धान भइरहेको पर्सा प्रहरीका प्रवक्ता प्रहरी नायव उपरीक्षक यज्ञ प्रसाद भटटराईले जानकारी दिए। सर्लाही र मकवानपुरका आठ जना युवकले आफूहरु सीआइबी टोलीको प्रहरी भएको बताउदै नागमणी बेच्ने गिरोहमा संलग्न काठमाण्डौका प्रेम श्रेष्ठलाई शुक्रबार बाराको जितपुरबाट नियन्त्रणमा लिएर पथलैया स्थित होटल लगेर बन्धक बनाएर राखेका थिए । श्रेष्ठले नागमणी बेच्ने गिरोहमा बाराका अब्दुल पनि संलग्न रहेको भन्ने जानकारी दिएपछि ती आठ जना युवकले शनिबार बिहान वीरगन्जको नेशनल मेडिकल कलेज नजिकको चिया पसलबाट अब्दुललाई नियन्त्रणमा लिइ ना १६ च ८७८० नम्बरको स्कार्पियो गाडीमा राखेर पथलैया तर्फ गइरहेका बेला प्रहरीले गाडिसहित बाराको जितपुर नजिकबाट शनिबार दिउँसो पक्राउ गरेको हो। शनिवार बिहान १० बजे अब्दुललाई अपहरण गरेर पथलैया तर्फ भाग्दै गरेको खबर पाएपछि जिल्ला प्रहरी कार्यालय पर्साबाट प्रहरी निरिक्षक भीम बहादुर खड्काको नेतृत्वमा प्रहरीको टोलीले खटिएको थियो । दुई वटा गाडीमा सवार प्रहरीको टोलीले उनीहरुलाई पछ्याउदै जितपुर स्थित गढीमाई मन्दिर नजिकको गाँउबाट स्कार्पियो गाडिसहित पक्राउ गरेको प्रहरी नायव उपरीक्षक भट्टराईले जानकारी दिए ।
