Bagmati, Kathmandu, Kathmandu

Sunil Rana (13 years) and Anil Rana (20 years), first and middle children respectively of Dhaman Bahadur Rana and Sarita Lama in Pani Pokhari were compelled to live a pitiful life; one caged in an iron box and another tied in a tree until was noticed by a Japanese citizen named Makito Minami. Minami who had been to Nepal for several times was here this time for anthropological research. He made a video about the brothers compelled to live inhuman life. Both Rana brothers are mentally retarded. The video was made viral in social media on Wednesday when posted by Durganath Dahal, working on human rights. Different Shelter Home approached Dahal for sheltering children after seeing the video. Dahal said they had to be very much selective for handing over the children due to the weak mental condition of children. After research, Dahal found Manav Sewa Ashram doing good in taking care of mentally retarded children, he approached them, and they were also ready to take care of the children. On Thursday morning they were handed over to Ashram in the presence of the representative of Social Welfare Council.
