3 injured as Maoist, RPP cadres clash over election booth in Dhading

A scuffle broke out between cadres of ruling CPN (Maoist Centre) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party over shifting an election booth of remote Ruwi valley village council of Dhading on Thursday. Three persons have been reportedly injured in the brawl. The Maoist party’s Dhading district member and in-charge of Ruwi valley Ram Singh Tamang was attacked at Dhadingbesi by RPP cadres while local administration was discussing the election booth today. Tamang was attacked by a group of people led by the RPP cadre Prashant Tamang, informed Maoist Centre’s Dhading Secretariat. He has sustained injuries in his face. Following the attack, Maoist Centre’s cadres started chasing the RPP cadres to retaliate attack, it is learnt. Police have arrested Prashant Tamang, who also happens to be in the wanted list of police for a murder case, and sent him to Kathmandu for further investigation, informed SP Sharad Kumar Khatri. Police have also arrested Regh Ghale and Roman Tamang in connection with the incident. It is learnt that RPP cadres were against shifting the election booth of Ruwi valley from Borang of Sertungh-4 to Chalisey village. Former Home Minister and RPP leader Buddhi Man Tamang’s house is located at Sertung-4. Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal has said that if the problem could not be resolve politically, Election Commission will exercise its power to decide the election booth in the area.
