[Updated] A Nepali Congress leader, Rabindra Shah, was pushed to his death from a cliff by an unidentified group of people in Jajarkot in mid-western Nepal on Tuesday evening. Shah was returning home after visiting a road construction site in Bheri Municipality-5 when he was assaulted at around 6:45 pm, police said. Shah was the chairman of local Panchtare Conservation Forum. He was a former central committee member of Nepal Student Union, the sister organisation of Nepali Congress. At least four assailants first pelted stones at Shah and later pushed him off the cliff on the roadside. He died after falling off the cliff. He apparently sustained severe injuries on his face and head. The body has been sent to the District Hospital for postmortem. DSP Ramesh Datta Awasthi at the Jajarkot District Police Office said police have launched a manhunt to get hold of the assailants who are yet to identified. जाजरकोटमा मंगलबार साँझ नेपाल विद्यार्थी संघ (नेविसंघ) का युवा नेता रविन्द्र शाहको निर्मम तवरले हत्या गरिएको छ । भेरी नगरपालिका ३ खाप्ले निवासी ३७ वर्षीय शाहलाई अज्ञात समूहले ढुंगा प्रहार गरी हत्या गरेको जिल्ला प्रहरी प्रमुख भावेश रिमालले जानकारी दिए ।हत्या पछि शाहको शव साढे तीन सय मिटर तल भिरमा फालिएको थियो । नेविसंघका पूर्वकेन्द्रीय सदस्य समेत रहेका शाह पाँच तारा युवा संरक्षक मञ्चका जिल्ला अध्यक्ष थिए । मंगलबार साँझ जाजरकोट सदरमुकाम खलंगाबाट जाजरकोट डोल्पा सडकखण्डमा ‘इभिनिङ वाक’ गरेर फर्कंदै गर्दा अज्ञात समूहले शाहमाथि ढुंगा प्रहार गरेको उनीसँगै गएकामध्ये एक हिटलरसिंह राठौरले जानकारी दिए । शाहको भेरी नगरपालिका ३ खाप्लेमा हत्या भएको हो । हत्या भएको स्थल सदरमुकामबाट एक किलोमिटर टाढापर्छ । उनीसँगै चारजना घुम्न गएका थिए । अज्ञात समूहले आक्रमण सुरु गरेपछि अन्य तीनजना भाग्न सफल भएका छन् । ‘सँगै गएका थियौं, फर्कने क्रममा अपरिचित मान्छे आएर आक्रमण सुरु गरे’, हिटलरसिंहले भने, ‘हामीले भागेर ज्यान बचायौं, उहाँलाई के गरे थाहै भएन ।’ प्रहरीलाई तत्काल खबर गर्दा समेत प्रहरी ढिलोमात्र घटनास्थलमा पुगेको भन्दै उनले आपत्ति प्रकट गरे । प्रहरीका अनुसार उनको नाक, मुख र टाउको पूरै किचिएको छ । प्रहरी प्रमुख रिमालले भने, ‘ढुंगाले हानेर लडाउँदै कुट्दै गरेको देखिन्छ ।’ नेता शाहको शव जिल्ला अस्पताल जाजरकोटमा राखिएको छ । उनका आमाबुबा, एक दाइ र ३ दिदीबहिनी छन् । प्रहरीले हत्यामा संलग्नको खोजी भइरहेको बताए पनि राति अबेरसम्म कसैलाई पक्राउ गरेको छैन । घटनास्थल र अस्पतालमा सर्वसाधारण र आफन्तको भिड लागेको छ । शाहको हत्यापछि सदरमुकाममा ठूलो संख्यामा नेपाल प्रहरी र सशस्त्र प्रहरीलाई परिचालन गरिएको छ । प्रहरी प्रमुख रिमालले घटना सुनियोजित भएको प्रारम्भिक अनुमानबाट थाहा भएको बताए । एक महिनाअघि मात्र विप्लव नेतृत्वको नेपाल कम्युनिस्ट पार्टीका कार्यकर्ता नेता शाहसँग चन्दा मागेपछि विवाद भएको परिवारले बताएको छ । हत्यामा विप्लव कार्यकर्ताको संलग्नता रहेको आशंका भए पनि यसको पुष्टि हुन सकेको छैन । ठेकेदार समेत रहेका शाहको केही समय अघि रुकुमको चौरजहारी युवासँग विवाद भएको थियो । शाह जाजरकोटका कांग्रेस सांसद राजीवविक्रम शाहका नातामा भाइ हुन् । Update ---------- NC leader Shah’s murder orchestrated by Chand-led Maoist men: Police A preliminary police investigation has revealed that the murder of Nepali Congress Jajarkot leader Rabindra Shumsher Shah was orchestrated by cadres of Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist. Police have arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in the crime. Organising a press conference at the District Police Office, Jajarkot, on Tuesday, police said Shah was murdered to settle old personal scores over financial transaction. At the press meet, police also made public Thagendra Bahadur Singh aka Shiva and Dil Bahadur Rana aka Dilli, who were involved in the murder of Shah. SSP Mahesh Bikram Shah said that the duo had already confessed the crime. Police have been searching for other suspects—Bal Bahadur Malla, Prem Wali aka Itihas, Indra Shahi alias Mohit Singh and Dirgha Bahadur Nepal aka Abhisek, who were on the run after the incident, said SSP Shah. They are the cadres of Netra Bikram Chand led CPN Maoist, he added. It has been learnt that the murderers had made the plan to kill NC leader Shah at Bheri Guest House in Thatibazaar, Khalanga. Earlier, police had detained 13 persons for interrogation in connection with the murder. Later, police released five persons after necessary investigation while eights persons are still in the custody, SSP Shah informed. He said that the absconding culprits would be arrested soon by issuing an Interpol red notice. Rabindra Shumsher Shah, 36, was stoned to death while he was out for a walk with his aide Hitler Singh Rathour at Jajarkot-Dolpa Road on March 28. His body was thrown from a roadside cliff. The victim was a former central member of Nepal Students Union and chairman of Panchtara Yuwa Samrakshan Manch. After eight days in Indian prison, Dev Narayan Yadav and his son Ajaya of Saptari’s Koiladi Tilathi Rural Municipality-1 have been freed today. They were kept in Birpur prison over a human trafficking and hostage-taking case pressed against them. The duo was released after the single bench of judge Lal Bahadur Prasad of Birpur court’s order that invalidated the abduction case upon hearing the statement of the supposedly-abducted Indian girl and Ajaya’s wife, who clarified that she had married Ajaya on her own accord, not kidnapped. Following the arrest of their kin, Dev Narayan’s family had reached Birpur taking Ajaya’s wife Jyoti along four days ago. “Though late, the verdict has served us justice,” Ajaya’s kin said. In her statement, Jyoti had stated that the abduction case filed by her brother Sanjiv against her husband and father-in-law was fake. Earlier, police had arrested and filed a case against Dev Narayan and his son acting on a complaint filed by Sanjiv at the Kunauli police post. Commenting over the arrest, the Yadav family has described the incident as a set up to settle an old score. According to them, the case was purely fabricated by the Indian side to avenge the retaliation of the locals of Tilathi of Nepal led by Dev Narayan against the construction of a dam in the Das Gaza area last year.
