A woman was arrested for allegedly killing her newborn daughter at Jhaukhel, Changunarayan-3 of Bhaktapur on Wednesday. The arrested, Saili Tamang (21), a local of Gausara-1 in Ramechhap district, was reportedly in active labour pain since Wednesday morning when her husband, Megh Bahadur Tamang, returned to Ramechhap to forage for money for her delivery. Unknown to the developments after he left for village, Tamang returned to Bhaktapur in the afternoon and rushed the woman to the District Hospital. However, during the check up, the doctor revealed that the child was already delivered. The man, then, reported the case to police after not seeing the newborn with the mother. During the questioning, the new mother gave the statement that she murdered her child immediately after her birth and buried her in a bamboo grove near their rented room, said police. Police subsequently recovered the body from the mentioned location. Police are further investigating into the case.
