Bardiya/ May 10 The inmates and detainees at the District Prison have been facing difficulties due to the over crowd. The women cell does not have a problem of space however, the male prison is overcrowded. The rooms having a capacity of 12 inmates are overcrowded with 20 inmates, according to the prison administration. During the summer season, the many inmates and detainees are compelled to sleep in a same room which has been creating health problems among them. The numbers of inmates and detainees are increasing due to the criminal activities in the district. The Bardiya District prison has a capacity to hold 135 male and female inmates at a time however there are 200 inmates and detainees at present. A male cell, which has a capacity to hold 110 inmates, has altogether 170 inmates including 50 detainees. The female cell has a capacity to hold 25 inmates and there are 24 inmates with 6 dependent children. The physical infrastructure of the prison which was established on 1979 is in a critical state, according to the jail administration. The service according to the law and regulation could not be provided to the inmates due to the overcrowding, according to the jailer Rohit Shrestha. Man Bahadur Chaudhary बर्दिया । वैशाख २७ गते जिल्ला कारागारमा क्षमता भन्दा बढी थुनुवा र कैदी राखिएका कारण कैदी बन्दी समस्यामा परेका छन् । महिला कक्षमा बस्न र खानको लागि खासै समस्या नभएपनि पुरुष कक्षमा खान बस्नको समस्या भएको छ । १२ ओटा कोठा रहेको पुरुष कारगारमा प्रतिकोठा २० जनासम्म सुत्ने गरेको कारागार प्रशासनले जानकारी दिएको छ । गर्मीको समयमा एउटै कोठामा धेरै जना सुत्नु परेकाले कैदी र थुनुवामा स्वास्थ्य समस्याहरू देखा पर्ने गरेको गरेको कैदीहरूले बताएका छन् । जिल्लामा धेरै हत्या हिंसाका घटना बढ्दै गएका कारण कारागारमा कैदी र थुनुवाको सङ्ख्या बढी हुँदै गएको हो । महिला र पुरुष गरेर १ सय ३५ जनाको क्षमता भएको बर्दिया कारागारमा अहिले छ जना आश्रति बालबालिका सहित २ सय जना कैदी र थुनुवा रहेका छन् । १ सय १० जनाको क्षमता भएको पुरुष कारागारमा १ सय २० जना कैदी र ५० जना थुनुवा गरी १ सय ७० जना रहेका छन् । २५ जनाको क्षमता भएको महिला कारागारमा १५ जना थुनुवा र ९ जना कैदी गरी २४ जना रहेका छन् २४ जना महिलाको साथमा ६ जना बालबालिका रहेका छन् । कारागारमा महिला तर्फ १५ जना थुनुवा र पुरुष तर्फ ५० जना थुनुवा रहेका छन् । २०३४ सालमा निर्माण भएको कारागारको भवन अहिले जीर्ण बन्दै गएको कारागार प्रशासनले जनायो । 'दिवालको प्लास्टरहरू उक्कदै गएको छ, कारागार भुकम्प प्रतिरोधात्मक पनि छैन नत वातावरण मैत्री नै छ ' एक कर्मचारीले भने । 'गर्मीयाममा गुम्सिएर बस्नु पर्दा साह्रै समस्या परेको छ, रातभरी लामखुट्टेले टोकेर हैरान पार्छन् ।' एक कैदीले भने । कारागारमा कैदी र थुनुवाको सङ्ख्या बढी भएको कारणले ऐन र नियमावलीमा व्यवस्था भएबमोजिम सेवा सुविधा दिन नसकिएको बर्दिया कारागारका जेलर रोहित श्रेष्ठले बताए । मानबहादुर चौधरी
