Man Dies in Bomb Explosion in Hotel

Dil Kumar Khadka, 21, of Jaljala VDC has died on the spot when a socket bomb he was carrying went off in the Madi hotel in Chainpur4 on December 26.


The hotel owner Gokul Dhungana said Khadka identifying himself as Prakash Neupane along with another man had checked in on December 25 adding the explosion occurred after he came back to the hotel for morning meal after going out for some time.

 

Dhungana said that the explosion occurred as Khadka went to his hotel room asking his friend to carry on with the meal. 

 

Khadka’s elder brother Hari said that his brother, studying in grade XII in Itahari of Sunsari district had come home a month earlier and left home on December 24. He identified the man accompanying his brother as local villager Birkha Bahadur Neupane.

 

Hari further informed that Neupane used to be a regional level UCPN-M cadre but was living in Tarai after being expelled from the party on charge of embezzlement. 

 

Police said they could not establish the motive for carrying the bomb.

 

They are searching Neupane, who managed to fled the scene in the chaos of the explosion.

 

The hotel was being run in the house of Ramesh Karmacharya of Trichok, the main commercial center of Chainpur for the past four years. The explosion has incurred damage in the roof and the walls of the house.

 

Last August too, a bomb went off in the Jaljala VDC building, located near Khadka’s house for which the Khambuwan Jatiya Mukti Morcha was assumed responsible.
