Jhapa/May 15 Forest guard of Ratuwa Mai Tree Plantation project has succumbed to the bullet injuries which he sustained when shot by the Armed Police Force (APF) men on May 14. Suresh Rai, 40, of Lakhanpur VDC-1 was shot in left eye when APF men of APF Pathibhara Battalion in Padajungi were practicing firing. He was shot at around 3 pm about 1.5 km north from the practice venue. According to SP Ram Krishna Shrestha of the battalion, Rai was initially treated in Damak-based Lifeline Hospital and later succumbed to injured at around 5 am today while undergoing treatment in Biratnagar-based Neuro Hospital. Family of the deceased has demanded action against culprit and appropriate compensation. Inspector Gopal Pokharel of the Area Police Office Damak said that body of the deceased was kept at the Neuro Hospital and details of the incident site was recorded.
