Six locals of Sorhawa3 have urged INSEC district office to help them in returning their land seized by UCPN-M on December 26.

Dilu Bhurtel, Chandra Lal Neupane, Jhankar Bahadur Khatri, Basundhara Bhurtel, Naame Bahadur Khatri and Nobika Jaisi of Sorhawa3, stating that UCPN-M has not returned their 0257394.15 square meters of seized land so far, have filed the applications urging to help them in getting back their seized land.

"We had got the land distributed by Squatters Problem Solution Commission on January 13, 1999 but the Maoists seized the land next year," victim Dilu Bhurtel said. The victims said they are facing problems to manage square meal for their families as their problems have not been solved though it elapsed five years of the endorsement of the Comprehensive Peace Accord. "We don't know the reasons for seizing land of landless people," Dilu said.

According to them, 016093.15 square meters of land belonging to Chandra Lal Neupane, 00560 square meters of land belonging to Naame Bahadur Khatri, 0440 square meters of land belong to Jhank Bahadur Khatri, 0237041 square meters of land belong to Basundhara Bhurtel and 03260 square meters of land belonging to Nobika Jaisi have not been returned by the UCPN-M so far.

"The Maoist cadres had seized my landownership certificate issuing threat, however, they have not returned the land yet," said Chandra Lal Neupane, adding that the Maoists are still tilling the seized land.

A team that consisted of UCPN-M chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal had arrived in the district and formed a taskforce to return the seized land after the major parties had reached a seven point agreement on November 1, 2011, however, local leaders and cadres of the party have ignored the issue of returning the seized land so far, those filing the applications stated.

INSEC district coordinator Saraswati Malla told them that she will take initiation in this regard after holding consultations with District Administration Office and concerned stakeholders.
