Candidate's son arrested with homemade weapons

Police here arrested the son of Kamala Kumari Tamang, a candidate from the CPN (Maoist Center) contesting for the post of Vice-Chair of Tarakeshwor Rural Municipality in possession of homemade weapons. Shumsher Tamang and his assistant Rajendra Tamang were held with a khukuri and three iron rods, according to Dev Bahadur Bohora, Chief of the District Police Office, Nuwakot. Police, acting on the tip off, arrested them who were menacing the cadres of Nepali Congress in the same rural municipality following the election campaign that ended at midnight yesterday as the silent period came into effect. Further investigation into the case is underway, police said. The first phase of election is going to be held in 34 districts, including Nuwakot, of Province No 3. Province no 3, 4 and 6 are going to the polls on May 14.
