2017-05-20

Bagmati, Chitawan, Bharatpur

Vote counting in Bharatpur Metropolitan City was put off amid protests from the cadres of Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). The ruling NC and CPN (Maoist Centre) had forged an electoral alliance in Bharatpur Metro before the elections. The agitating Maoist cadres resorted to protests accusing irregularities in the counting. They claimed that the election commissioner didn’t unveil the number of valid and invalid votes while making public data. They claimed that Renu Dahal, a mayoral candidate of Bharatpur Metro, who was leading in the initial count, began to trail after anomalies in counting.
