Police in Rautahat district reportedly arrested two cadres of Netra Bikram Chand (Biplab)-led CPN Maoist in possession of explosives from Chandranigahapur in Chandrapur Municipality on Wednesday night. Police suspected that they were planning to terrorise and disrupt the second phase of local level elections slated for June 28. Although police are yet to parade the two arrestees, a source at the Office identified one of them as Deepak Thapa. It has been learned that both of them are from Jhapa district. Acting on a tip-off, police raided a room of the Sudarshan Hotel in Chandranigahapur and confiscated 30 Guillotines, 22 detonators and 4 fuse devices in the possession of two men, at around 10:00 pm last night. A press card was also found in their possession. The law offenders were arrested during the security check carried out after it was learned that the cadres of Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist were shipping in explosives to disrupt the local elections.
