Though UCPN-N has announced that it will return the land and houses seized during the armed conflict to their rightful owners, the party's sister wing has seized land in Khandbari Municipality on December 29.
All Nepal Peasants' Federation-Revolutionary has seized fifty ropanis of land belong to Narayan Adhikari in Khandbari Municipality-11. A team led by the Federation's chairperson Chhatra Bahadur Katuwal had hoisted the party flags and announced seizure of the land today.
"As Adhikari tried to chase away the family of Hementa Rai, who is tilling the land of Adhikari for 10 years, the land was seized," UCPN-M district in-charge Rajendra Kiranti said.
After Adhikari had urged local Samaj Sewa Club, right activists and local administration to help him in collecting rice planted in his land, rice was collected with the help and security of police on December 20.
Maoists had seized land belonging to 68 persons in the district during the decade long armed insurgency in the country.
