The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) caught an engineer red-handed with bribe in Surkhet district on Friday evening. Engineer Durgaduta Kharel of Regional Monitoring and Inspection Office, Surkhet was caught red-handed with Rs 87,000 kick back at a hotel in Chinchu of Bheriganga Municipality in the district, CIAA information officer Meghnath Sapkota informed. The engineer had asked the bribe with a client to help him carry out works related to drinking water project, work completion report and payment procedure, it is learnt. Sapkota further informed that Kharel had asked his office assistant- technician Dal Bahadur Gharti to collect the bribe money. The CIAA team arrested Kharel and Gharti while the latter was handing over the bribe money he collected from the client to the former. CIAA had intensified monitoring in the district after service seekers complained that the technician had been demanding commission in an ongoing project related to drinking water in the district. If not given the commission, the authorities concerned used to delay the report, it is learnt. सेवाग्राहीसँग घूस लिँदै गरेको अवस्थामा अख्तियार दुरुपयोग अनुसन्धान आयोगको टोलीले एक इन्जिनियरलाई रंगेहात पक्राउ गरेको छ । क्षेत्रीय अनुगमन तथा सुपरिवेक्षण कार्यालय सुर्खेतका इन्जिनियर दुर्गादत्त खरेललाई घूस लिँदै गरेको अवस्थामा पक्राउ गरिएको हो । भेरीगंगा नगरपालिकाको छिन्चुस्थित एक होटलबाट खरेललाई ८७ हजार घूससहित पक्राउ गरिएको अख्तियारका सूचना अधिकारी मेघनाथ सापकोटाले जानकारी दिए । खानेपानी आयोजनाको पेस्की, कार्यसम्पन्न प्रतिवेदन, भुक्तानीको काम सजिलै गरिदिने भन्दै इन्जिनियर खरेलले उपभोक्तासँग घूस मागेका थिए । सापकोटाका अनुसार खरेलले घूस रकम कार्यालयकै खानेपानी सहायक टेक्निसियन दलबहादुर घर्तीलाई बुझ्न लगाएका थिए । घर्तीले बुझेको रकम इन्जिनियर खरेलले बुझदै गर्दा शुक्रबार राति अख्तियार टोलीले पक्राउ गरेको हो । रंगेहात घूससहित पक्राउ परेका खरेल र घर्तीमाथि आवश्यक अनुसन्धान गरी मुद्दा प्रक्रिया अघि बढाउने अख्तियारको भनाइ छ । जिल्लामा सञ्चालित खानेपानी आयोजनाबाट प्राविधिकले कमिसन मागेको व्यापक गुनासो सुनिन थालेपछि अख्तियारले निगरानी बढाएको थियो । बाढीबाट क्षतिग्रस्त आयोजना पुनर्निर्माणका लागि आएको करोडौं बजेटमाथि खानेपानी तथा सुपरिवेक्षण कार्यालयका प्राविधिकले भनेजति कमिसन नदिए फरफारक प्रतिवेदनमा ढिलाइ गर्ने गरेको गुनासो थियो । प्राविधिकको फरफारक प्रतिवेदनबिना भुक्तानी नहुने भएकाले आफूहरू कमिसन बुझाउन बाध्य भएको उपभोक्ताले गुनासो गर्दै आएका थिए ।
