With just two days away for the second phase of local level elections, a bomb exploded at the CPN-UML mayoral candidate Tara Subba’s house in Dharan on Monday. According to an eye witness Ranjit Rai, a group of two unidentified persons— wearing white shirts and half pants—had hurled the explosive device inside the compound of Rai’s house this morning. Rai was sitting inside his room when the incident occurred. It has been learnt that Rai came outside his room after he heard the sound of a powerful explosion. “Most probably anti-election elements had set off the explosive device to threaten me,” hehe said, adding, “I do not care about my life.” A police team deployed under ward police office In-Charge JB Limbu reached Rai's house following the incident. Police said that they are looking into the case. The second phase of local polls has been scheduled for June 28 in 35 districts of Province 1, 5 and 7. धरान उपमहानगरपालिकाको एमालेबाट मेयर उम्मेदवार तारा सुब्बाको घरमा आज बिहान ६ बजेर चालिस मिनेटमा शक्तिशाली बम विस्फोट भएको छ । धरान–११ मंगलबारे नजिकैको रमाइलो चोकमा रहेको सुब्बाको घरको कम्पाउण्ड भित्रै अज्ञात समूहले बम फालेर पूर्वको गल्ली तिर भागेको प्रत्यक्षदर्शी रन्जीत राईले बताए । उनका अनुसार सेतो सर्ट र हाफपेन्ट लगाएर आएका दुइ युवा सरासर आएर सुब्बाको घरको कम्पाउण्ड भित्र बम फालेर भागेका थिए । मेयरका उम्मेदवार सुब्बा त्यसबेला आफ्नै कोठा बसीरहेका थिए । अचानक घर अगाडिको फुलबारीमा ठूलो विस्फोट भएको आवाज सुनेपछि बाहिर निस्कँदा कोही पनि नदेखेको बताए । उनले भने, ‘सायद चुनाव विरोधी तत्वले उम्मेदवारलाई धम्की दिएको होला । जनताको अभिमत लिनका लागि गरिएको चुनावमा बम विस्फोट गर्दैमा मलाई ज्यानको परवाह छैन ।’ बम विस्फोटपछि तत्कालै पुगेका वडा प्रहरी कार्यालयका इन्चार्ज जेबी लिम्बुले अनुसन्धान भइरहेको बताए । बम विस्फोट बारे कसैले पनि जिम्मा लिएका छैनन् ।
