Dang/ June 4 Normal life across districts in Tarai regions has been affected due to the indefinite bandh called on by Freed Kamalaris and organizations working in Kamalari sectors on June 4. Long and short route vehicles have been affected due to the bandh. Market, industries and educational institutions remained closed due to the strike. The protestors obstructed a vehicle (Ra 1 Ga 11) belonging to the Ghorahi municipality and vandalized its glass. The security has been tightened around the area to avoid untoward incident, according to the District Police Office, Dang. The bandh enforces are walking on the streets with batons. The strike will continue until the government addresses our demand, said Manjita Chaudhary, central chairperson of Kamalari Bikash Manch. Ex-Kamalaris have been protesting since May 31 demanding investigation over the death of 12-year-old Srijana Chaudhary who died in the house of Yuvraj Paudel at Lalitpur, proper compensation for the victim’s family, identity card for the Kamalaris, amendment of law related to Kamalaris, including other demands.
