Morang/June 5 Manoj Kumar Singh alias Madan, 41, of Majhare VDC-3 has filed a case against Majhare Police Post at the District Court on June 5 demanding compensation for torture inflicted upon him. The victim filed the case with joint initiation of INSEC and Advocacy Forum. He has sought departmental action and a compensation of 1 lakh rupees saying that he was tortured in the Majhare Police Post on May 23. Manoj had also filed a complaint against in-charge of the police post ASI Prahlad Kumar Sharma at the District Administration Office on May 24. The victim received treatment at Koshi Zonal Hospital in Biratnagar. According to the complaint filed by the victim, ASI Sharma in inebriated condition thrashed him with boot and lathi inside the police post premises after taking him to the police post over a dispute with Santosh Mahato, 38, of Majhare VDC-3. The victim sustained bruises to his stomach, arm, chest, back and other body parts. Meanwhile, in-charge of the police post denied the victim"s claim.
