Area Police Office Krishnanagar has arrested Sukai Kewat alias Sanjay Kewat, 22, of Birpur4 on charge of being a cadre of armed group. Also wanted for being involved in various crimes, police arrested him from Gallmandi in Krishnanagar5 on January 1.

Kewat, who was presented at the district court on January 2, has been sent to judicial custody for investigation following the district court order on January 3.

Police have accused that Kewat had planted a socket bomb at the Ganesh Ply Industry in Bahadurganj2 on May 1, 2011. He is also accused of looting golden ornaments from the house of Abdul Gani Musalman of Birpur4 on July 27, 2011.

Saying that Kewat was a cadre of Tarai Madhes Janatantrik Mukti Party, police said that he was involved in planting bombs in industries at the Krishnanagar Bahadurganj area and extortions.
