Bagmati, Kathmandu, Kathmandu

Defence Minister Bhimsen Das Pradhan says army personnel mobilised for the security before and during the second phase of provincial and federal parliamentary elections scheduled for tomorrow have been authorised to shoot people trying to foil the elections if necessary. “We have provided needful directives to the Nepali Army,” Pradhan says, “They are delegated the right to open fire if need be.” Meanwhile, Pradhan says the government has completed all security preparations for the polls and voters can cast their ballots without any fear. “I wish the level of participation in tomorrow’s elections would be as much as possible.” Speaking with journalists in Kathmandu today, Pradhan said over 600 anti-poll activists were arrested in recent past. He said around 38,000 army personnel would be mobilised for the poll security tomorrow.
