Surkhet/August 3 The district bandh called jointly by different ethnic and religious groups to protest the attempt to erect a Budhha statue at Kankre Bihar has affected normal life on August 3. The bandh came at a time when the Buddhists are also protesting the police obstruction to place a statue on the site. The bandh was jointly organized by the groups including Hindu, Muslim and Christian religious groups and ethnic organizations like Chhetri, Thakuri, Dashnami and Brahmin Samaj. They have warned of ethnic and communal tension if the administration allows the statue to be placed. Shops, factories, industries and vehicular movements remained stalled in Birendranagar.
