The Metropolitan Police Circle, Satdobato, arrested Shiva Karki of Gyan Kunja Boarding School, Lalitpur, on charge of molesting one of his students. Karki is also the president of Private and Boarding Schools’ Organization Nepal (PABSON), Lalitpur chapter. The student informed the police on Friday evening that the principal touched her inappropriately and tried to kiss her. In her statement to the police, the student has said that she was weeping due to some reason on the top floor of the school when the principal approached her and behaved inappropriately. Karki has denied the charge. “I had no such intention. She was weeping and I was just trying to understand the situation and help her. I did not touch her inappropriately,” a police official of Metropolitan Police Circle, Satdobato quoted Karki as saying. On Saturday, the victim and the school management committee discussed the issue. The discussion revolved around the incident although the victim has not officially lodged a complaint. The discussion that started early Saturday morning ended late in the evening. In the meeting, the victim has consistently maintained that her teacher molested her. “I stayed in the meeting for few hours. The victim has maintained that the teacher misbehaved,” confirmed Suprabhat Bhandari, President of Guardian Association Nepal. Given the nature of the incident, the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur has directed its unit to conduct thorough investigation on the issue. “We are conducting fair investigation. Our women and children cell handles such case,” said Senior Superintendent of Police Ganesh Aire, Chief of Laltipur Police. “Our team is also counselling the victim so that she will not have to face any form of intimidation or fear to reach out an agreement.” SSP Aire said that further legal proceedings would begin on Sunday. महानगरीय प्रहरी वृत सातदोबाटोले ज्ञानकुञ्ज बोर्डिङ स्कुल ताल्छीखेलका प्रधानाध्यापक शिव कार्कीलाई पक्राउ गरेको छ । छात्रामाथि दुब्र्यवहार गरेको आरोपमा उजुरी गरेपछि शुक्रबार राति १० बजे उनलाई प्रहरीले पक्राउ गरेको हो । कार्की निजी तथा आवासीय विद्यालय संगठन (प्याब्सन) ललितपुरका अध्यक्ष पनि हुन । प्रहरी स्रोतका अनुसार कार्कीले करिब १७ वर्षीया एक छात्रालाई होस्टेलमा दुब्र्यवहार गरेपछि ती छात्राले उक्त घटना बारे आफ्नो परिवारलाई जानकारी गराएकी थिईन् । त्यस लगत्तै प्रहरीले उनलाई पक्राउ गरेको हो ।
