Complaint Lodged against DSP, Inspector

Khotang/August 18 Parents of Budeu Rai alias Kiran, 18, of Patheka VDC-2 have filed a complaint against the then DSP Rajiv Basnet and Inspector Ramesh Kumar Dev of the District Police Office (DPO) on August 18 accusing that their son died due to police torture. Father of Bhudeu, Buddhi Bahadur Rai, 36, and mother Ram Lakshi Rai, 34, accused that their son Kiran, who was held on charge of murder attempt was tortured following orders from the DSP and Inspector. They have demanded necessary investigation and action against the police officers. Kiran who was arrested on June 11 had managed to flee from police captivity on July 5 but was arrested the same day from Buipa VDC. He was remanded in custody following the District Court order on July 7 but died in course of treatment at the District Hospital on July 10. According to family of Kiran, he had died of police torture. They said that he was mentally and physically torture while being brought to the DPO. DSP Govind Kumar Shah of the DPO received the complaint saying that the complaint was first of its kind and he would take further process by contacting the line agencies.
