Thirty-four Human Rights activists have been detained for staging a sit-in at Baluwatar, in front of the Prime Minister’s official residence, on Sunday. The group staged protests at Baluwatar to alarm the government to not dismiss the Tikapur Carnage case as well as the case of CPN Maoist Centre leader Balkrishna Dhungel, without due legal process. They also demanded that the government must approve the Roman Statute of the International Criminal Court. The protesters were held on charges of gathering around a prohibited zone. Those arrested have been kept at Nepal Police Club in Bhrikutimandap, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohan Babu Thapa. Noted rights activist Krishna Pahadi, among others, was taken into custody by the police. ‘Reports’ of the newly formed government possibly dropping charges on Tikapur carnage alleged conspirator and Rashtriya Janata Party Nepal MP Resham Chaudhary and on Maoist Centre leader Dhungel have been doing rounds of late. बालुवाटार घेराउ गर्न गएका कृष्ण पहाडीसहित ३४ मानवअधिकारकर्मी पक्राउ परेका छन् । निषेधित क्षेत्र तोडेको भन्दै प्रहरीले उनीहरुलाई पक्राउ गरेको हो । पक्राउ परेकाहरुलाई नेपाल पुलिस क्लब भृकुटिमण्डपमा राखिएको महानगरीय प्रहरी परिसर काठमाडौंका एसएसपी विश्वराज पोखरेलले जानकारी दिए । नयाँ सरकार गठनसँगै टीकापुर लगायतका घटनामा आरोपीहरुको मुद्दा फिर्ता लिने र आमामाफी दिन खोजिएको भन्दै मानवअधिकार तथा शान्ति समाजले धर्ना कार्यक्रम राखेको थियो ।
