Court Sends Four to 12 Years in Prison for Gang-raping Buddhist Nun

The district court Sankhuwasabha on January 9 has sentenced four persons to 12 years in prison for gang-raping a Buddhist nun. A closed bench of district judge Shaligram Koirala gave the verdict convicting them of the rape charge.

 

Spokesperson and shrestedar of the district court Prakash Ghimire informed that Raj Kumar Limbu, Bhuwan Korangi, Sovit Magar and Abhisekh Magar were sentenced to 12 years for rape while another accused Dron Bahadur rai was sentenced to 6 years for attempt to rape. The four got seven years according to the point 3 (5) of the rape chapter of the general code and another five years for sexually abusing the nun.

 

The court has further asked to collect Rs 130,000 from the convicts and provide to the victim. They had also looted the amount from her after raping her on June 24, 2011. Father of the victim had filed a case against them.

 

The accused – bus drivers and helpers had raped the nun, of Khatamma5 in Bhojpur at Kharang8.
