In Gaumul Rural Municipality-4, Manakot, 50 girls student out of 250 students studying at Kirtichur Secondary School are deprived of going to the school during their menstrual period. Girls students are deprived of going to school for at least 60 day in a year due to the superstition that they must not go to the school during their periods. Local student Nanda Kumari Joshi of Kirtichaur Secondary School said that she is deprived of going to school due to the prevailing superstition and lack of education. There is a temple near the school and there is a saying that girl student during their period cannot pass through the temple. The principal of the school said that girl student do not come to the school during their period however the school is not obstructing them on coming. गौमुल गाउँपालिका-४ मानाकोटमा रहेको किर्तिचौर माविका २ सय ५० छात्राहरू मध्ये ५० जना छात्राहरू विद्यालय जानबाट वञ्चित हुँदै आएका छन् । महिनावारी भएको समयमा विद्यालय जान नहुने भन्ने अन्धविश्वासका कारण उनीहरू वर्षको करिब ६० दिन पठनपाठनबाट वञ्चित हुनु परेको हो । अशिक्षा अन्धविश्वासका साथै धार्मिक मान्यताले पढाइबाट वञ्चित हुनुपरेको किर्तिचौर माविमा अध्ययनरत छात्रा नन्दाकुमारी जोशीले गुनासो गरिन् । विद्यालय नजिकै देवताको थान भएकाले ‘छुई’ भएको समयमा जानु हुँदैन भन्ने मान्यता छ । छुई भएको महिलाले देवताको थान छोएमा देवता रिसाउने र अनिष्ट हुने विश्वास यहाँका मानिसहरूमा रहँदै आएको जोशीले बताइन् । उनी मात्र होइनन् उनीसँगै आठ कक्षामा पढ्ने छात्रा मन्देवी जोशी भन्छिन्-‘विद्यालयमा देवताको मन्दिर बनाएर राखिएको छ । विद्यालय आउने बाटो भरी देवताका मन्दिर छन् । छुई भएको समयमा हिड्ने बाटो समेत छैन भन्दै अभिभावकहरूले छुई भएको पाँच दिनसम्म रोक लगाउँछन् ।’ किर्तिचौर माविमा २ सय ५० छात्रा अध्ययनरत रहेकामा महिनावारी भएको समयमा छात्राहरू विद्यालय पढ्न नआउने गरेको भएपनि विद्यालयबाट कुनै बाधाअड्चन नगरेको प्रधानाध्यापक डबलबहादुर बोगटीले बताए । यसरी वर्षको ६० दिन महिनावारी भएको समय छात्राहरू विद्यालय जान नपाउने कारण उनीहरू पढाइमा समेत कमजोर हुने गरेका छन् । फलस्वरूप उनीहरूले बिचमै विद्यालय छाड्ने गरेका छन् ।
